What You Can Do
We can all play a role in strengthening families and preventing child maltreatment from occurring. The most effective way to prevent child abuse and neglect is to get help for parents and families early, before child maltreatment occurs. From small steps to larger commitments – there is something each person can do to support Wisconsin’s children and families:
Purchase a Celebrate Children License Plate
Learn about the 5 Strengths to understand how to make families stronger and increase the likelihood of children growing up safe and healthy
Show support for Family Strengthening Month every April by wearing blue, sharing social media posts, or attending an event
Volunteer or participate at an upcoming Foundation event.
Advocate for state and local lawmakers to create legislation and allocate funding that supports families within your community
Share this information with your family and friends
Connect with a local Family Resource Center to learn about their services. There may be activities for you and your family to participate in or volunteer
Ask your employer if parenting supports are included in employee benefits
Consider applying to serve on the Board of Directors for the Foundation
